Finnish O magazine has had mistake of the year contest. Couple of years ago a friend of mine won that with a story how he ran Finnish long champs long qualification with long map and managed to finish mainly just following and using course descriptions.
Yesterday somebody joked there is no point having that contest 2017 because Imatra organizers would win it hands down for sure. So I guess things did not go quite as they planned.
What was the deal with the Middle EOC race where a bunch of people were disqualified and then un-disqualified? The speaker said that you can't cross black lines (as in onto the lake), and they clearly had to, to get back off the lake, so what was the argument for being un-DSQ'd?
Yes, I can't believe I'm paying any attention to Ski-O either. Too bad about the snow, its not great up here in mid-Fin either.
Yeah it's not even the black line thing, in ski-o that color of blue is always uncrossable (crossable lakes are mapped in 50% blue, no black line), so it was blatantly not ok. So they dq'd people, then some dq'd people protested, it went to the jury, the jury reinstated them. Don't remember the jury's reasons, but not many people agreed with them. Note that the woman that got dq'd for exactly the same thing was not reinstated, simply because no one protested the women's race.
The whole thing has been raised to a super-protest to the IOF council by a couple federations, whatever that process is actually called. Not sure the details of what happens from here.
Did anyone yell, "Fake news!" during the team officials meeting?
