nobody has said you can't massage your calves, dorsiflex and plantar flex your feet, etc. right? fool them into thinking they are getting their fix?
I do all that, I've also now have a mobility and core workout program from PT A. The legs still go through a period of cramping when I stop running for a week or so.
what a unique motivator to keep running...which in this case I'm sure you'd much rather be without.
