Looks like the taper worked well for you.

Hah, yeah, didn't hurt as much as it should have. Thanks! It's a neat trail, with good variety. Fast sections. Very steep ups and downs, but none longer than maybe 300 ft. Nice views of the giant lake. Good German sausage with really good sauerkraut and mustard at the end, and a few minutes of sitting around a nice campfire and b.s.ing.

Sauerkraut at the finish--now there's a motivator I could go for! I am not being sarcastic!

Good run.

Thanks, everyone. It was just about right. Another new distance, another great learning experience. I'm beginning to really enjoy the 40-50 mile range, especially with lots of aid stations like they had (30-45 minutes between each one!), where I can go light and keep moving. Two loops (lollipops, in this case) is also nice, as you get to think about the 2nd half during the first, and prep for it.

On to the Naked Prussian 50mi in 4 weeks! Same location, sameish course, just a bit longer. Negative splits. Negative splits. There, I said it. Twice. Better get tapering. ;)

I really like 50 miles too. Going for 100 is soooo much more difficult.

It's shockingly harder, isn't it? Even 100k feels short compared to 100m. I'm looking forward to the day I say the same things about 100m vs 200m. ;) It's really all just a Jedi mind trick.
