Do you carry poles or hockey sticks in case someone breaks through? I remember Magnus saying that the skaters in Sweden carry a bunch of self rescue gear. Got any photos?

It probably would have been good to bring that, and I know Mathias had some kind of spikes attached on a string for that purpose. Here is the view towards the city on our way back:

Definitely not hockey sticks for self rescue when you are long distance skating... ;)

The picture shows ice spikes ("ispigger" in Norwegian) which should be our standard safety equipment when we run/hike on the ocean ice. For further safety equipment, see

The kinda look like those spike you get to hold your corn on the cob.... dual purpose!
