There's more to life than using Blue Extra in late March.

What would the average Torontonian think "Blue extra in late March" means?

A leafs game goes to OT?

Nev: I like chewing gum in March too!

Haha Hammer it took me a second to figure out what Blue Extra meant and I'm a Torontonian in the know. :)
You're probably right about the Leafs. That or something to do with extra police around.

"There's more to life than using Blue Extra in late March"

That line (for whatever reason) reminded me of best orienteering line of all time.
Lets set the scene. 1997 World Orienteering Champs banquet a few hours after Sweden DSQ's in the relay allowing Canada to take a top 15 finish. Klepperton and Dave Donaldson sneak into the banquet and the free? bar. Dave is talking with Jorgen Martensson, one of the World's best ever orienteers, and also a member of said Swedish team. Jorgen also made his money at the time organizing orienteering tours and some coaching. The conversation:

DD: "Great party eh, Jorgen".
JM: "Yes it is.....but it wasn't a great day for us today"
a few seconds of silence
DD: "Well Jorgen, you know, there is a lot more to life than just orienteering"

DD followed that great line up with an undergrad physics degree at Oxford, a PhD in economics at LSE, an asst. Prof of economics at MIT and now he has moved on to bigger things and is an assoc Prof at Stanford.

Funny, it didn't occur to me that "Blue Extra in late March" would confuse anyone. Would it piss a few people off? Well, yes, *that* definitely crossed my mind. :)

Another important tidbit from that banquet was a certain legendary, ultra-talented Danish band asserting themselves into everyone's subconscious...

This was big hit that summer all around Europe. Luckily, we didn't hear it in North America for months later.

I remember the DJ actually played it twice one night in a club in Arendal...classic.

So much wrong with that song and video...

Funny how you relate different events to tunes. My first international race running for Canada (Junior Int'l that would become JWOC) in Denmark (home country to Aqua) was in 1983. This was the big hit.

Two years later New Order would come to MAC and play an incredibly terrible 48 minute concert complete with deliberate feedback. It only cost 6 bucks so whatever.

Oh and Mark if you had been at the post Raid the Hammer party at a crappy pub in Westdale back in 2009 you would have learned to love Barbie girl by now. Two Scottish team members piss drunk singing that at the karaoke .... one of them was later kicked out of the bar... a few years later he would medal at WOC.

Wait tickets for New Order were $6!
