Discussion: 2017 Breakdown 4-day

new multi-day race in the US! the Breakdown has been a 24 or 30-hour race for the past few years but now they are stepping up to a 4-day race this weekend.

...a pretty good crowd i think for a first-year multi-day race!

i've raced in the area the last 2 years as part of the 24/30hr races, and the area is really hilly and really steep. cool MTB trail systems and for the 4-day race, a packraft is on the gear list.

Due to high river levels, one of the river packrafts was removed -- and they were told to go to TA6 from TA1.

Any maps for guides on the 'net? Can't seem to find anything.

I was wondering that, too -- with the route changes, it looks like they're doing an out-and-back along and around that ridge on the state line?

Seems that way! And looks like the far W point was dropped by some teams or they were short coursed. Looks like a great area!

The phone app is quite nice, but pretty basic. Been at the flying pig so wasn't sure if a website offered more info.

And, have to show some Michigan love, Go UNE!!!!

Honey Badgers, who came hot out of the gates are still at TA13 and UNE (who have recently caught them) are now about 5 km ahead. Mostly Retired is almost at the TA and Rev3 is about 20 km back. A couple photos but no race updates from the FB sites. Some info from this morning on Twitter, but no recent updates. Luckily (for us) the course is very linear so following the dots seems pretty straightforward; I like their tracking website.

ShrekFeet posted on FB that part was cancelled...guessing it was water conditions. Now I am totally also cheering other APers, including Koa Wahine, solo female doing the course.

I have also enjoyed their tracking but a simple leaderboard would have really been helpful to make more sense of this race! Yes, the change in course was due to high water levels. Top 4 teams are all finished. UNE / Honeybadgers / Mostly Retired and Rev 3. The Mercators are up next to finish the full course, if all goes well some time late tonight / tomorrow morning. Go Mercators!!! Also cheering on Koa Wahine!

Flip flop Rev3 and Mostly Retired for 3rd/4th. Dusty (Koa Wahine) is killing it and expected to be in tonight at 9pm. Beast!
