Running off the green start at a similar pace I also wondered why it was so congested with seemingly faster red start runners merging at 6km - I am not sure why they delayed red, that's not good. I got carried along to a couple of fast splits there, which gave me a little time in the bank for a slower second half.
Well judged pace "on the fly" :-)
Thanks, and well done on your own sub-3 (don't think I'll be doing that in my 50s!). Lots of comments on social media about red start delay (90 seconds late apparently) which affected lots of FGFA people getting stuck in slow congestion for quite a while - explains why I unintentionally had to slow down for a bit, frustrating as it wasted a bit of energy and I found it hard to pick up that pace again. But then perhaps the slower pace there actually gave me more energy in bank for when I really needed it later on!
Yes well done Paul! Sounds like a perfectly judged race and a great build up. Hope you're enjoying the well earned recuperation.
