Not that it matters now new phone owner, but my 6+ did the same thing and it was the battery. New battery and its good to go

I knew that might be the problem but it was a 90 minute wait for a diagnostic test to confirm. When I did that in similar circumstances a few years ago, they decided my battery was fine but I insisted on paying $79 for a new battery anyway, and they broke the phone while installing it. That was a few days before I left for a race in Europe where a phone was mandatory gear. Ah, sweet memories... :)

This time they offered $95 for my 3-year-old iPhone 5 and I thought about it for 0.05 seconds and said, "Sold! I'll take that rose gold, water resistant one with twice the storage capacity I have now!" I wasn't planning to buy a new phone but it was a nice excuse. :)
