I was waiting to hear what you thought of those trails and how your race went. Sounds like your bike is getting broken in ;)
I shouldn't tease. I know how upsetting it can be to put the first scratches etc on a beautiful new bike. Then it becomes like "Meh, the bike still works fine".
Great that you had such nice weather. Such a beautiful spot!
I think the "Fifty" part of the name was just because the race organizers thought it sounded good (and people like doing 50km races rather than 40 something km). The Fifty trail was built later specifically by the race organizers to get rid of a road descent (and they named it after the race).
