Another option is that we decide a time and place and do a test run ourselves. Could become a once a month thing or more/less frequent.
Good idea. Like when we did the three km runs on the Hamilton waterfront a few, or perhaps quite a few, years ago?
I'd probably combine those with the occasional race and get the best of both worlds.
Maybe the Burlington waterfront would suit? In addition to being surprisingly beautiful it lends itself to a warm up and then after crossing the lift bridge there's a long, flat and uninterrupted section where you could do probably up to ten Km if you wanted to.
The MEC series is a pretty cheap option...
Yeah, but the competition must be pretty limited because I knew two people on the overall podium in the last one! They're both surprisingly beautiful though.
The MEC races are really good too.
Runner's Den also has a cheapie evening series, but only 5K and maybe a little late in the season? http://www.sunsetseries.ca/
Local MEC races are no good for now because there's nothing till fall. There is a MEC 5/10/half in Toronto that could work.
I like the idea of having Hans break my spirit a few times and then getting into a race or two. Maybe a runners den 5 and the peach bud 10.
Moon in June 10k then pints after???
The moon in June is a little too soon. But maybe the pints are a good idea.
Time trials and races are different beasts, good idea to do the 5km to get the pain going.
Clearly Nevin has never run the escarpment rally.
I agree with NM but you can do them more often (and a lot cheaper).
We will do both. Except nevin who is apparently still waiting for the wardrobe to get involved.
