Fyi from a dog owner in Burlington. We live among coyotes here and almost never see one. This guy sounds rabid or extremely desperate.
May 31,2017 Coyote Attack
"To our neighbours -my husband was walking our dog Bruce this morning, and he was attacked by a coyote- out in the open, in daylight, at Roseland park behind the baseball diamond. The coyote bit Bruce in the hind leg and continued to pursue him despite my husbands attempts to scare him off. He was finally able to yell and scream enough to ward the coyote off. This coyote was not afraid of my husband or our 140 lb newf. I will be reporting this online and to the police. Please as always, be aware of everything around you- if it had been me walking Bruce instead, we may not have gotten away so lucky."
Thanks for the info. I didn't know about that one.
This guy is probably from the local den by my office but could be another. They are particularly visible here and I see them crossing the road at a stream near the area of that park often. Mostly they just eat garbage and occasionally kill smaller pets and the city leaves them alone. This guy, though, may have just screwed himself with that move. No doubt the calls to shoot and poison them will start up again.
Ugh. That coyote obviously has a problem. We can see coyote scat and "beds" in the grass and snow on our property so we know they sleep here and we often hear them at night. Still, in almost 19 years at this house, we've only had a few sightings from our house or in the conservation area behind it. They don't usually want trouble and I hate it when people want them "exterminated". Unfortunately, this Burlington coyote is surprisingly aggressive and probably ill.
It's probably originally from aldershot. Here in central Burlington even the animals have better manners and people and coyotes coexist pretty well.
Mentioned this to Jenn and it turns out she's already heard about it. Our friend knows the people who got the old west Burlington bum rush from Wyle E. Pretty soon we are probably going to build a wall. Sad!
Good luck getting the coyotes to pay for it. They are bad hombres.
