Are you going to Denmark next year?
tRicky is asking because I get my long service leave in Feb 2018... and I want to travel-O :)
They have travelators at the airport although if you stopped in to play on one of those all day the parking would cost about the same as a flight to Denmark.
Funnily enough, I was browsing Copenhagen accommodation at lunchtime today! There's a conference I intend to attend in Vienna 10 days beforehand but I'm not sure how long I'll stay on after WMOC because it depends on my level of organisational commitment to 2018 Aust Champs in SA.
Well Tash is already planning a big year given her LSL with MTBO World Cup in June/July (Hungary), and then MTBO World Champs in August (Austria). WOC and WMTBOC are on at the same time next year, as is the world trail O champs. Isn't it a bit weird that orienteering is not allowed to clash with the Olympics (given it's not an Olympic sport) and yet three of the disciplines within its own ranks are allowed to clash? So I was just looking for stuff in between and found this! Of course I am suddenly poor around Oct this year so don't know about funding options just yet.
Who says you're coming with me tRicky? You'll be on FurBaby duty :P
So you're going all the way over there to spectate at WMTBOC without me riding are you and going to WMOC even though you're not old enough?
*shock* me?? Not old enough?? *spectate* How very dare you!! :P
There are public races at WMOC, if Ricky doesn't want to admit to his true age. Also, O-Ringen in the north of Sweden is 2 weeks later - the week prior to (MTB)WOC?
Could be a problem if it's only the week before since I'll need to be at a training camp (assuming I can still ride next year of course and haven't become decrepit with age).
Actually just checked and it's July 21-27 with WMTBOC Aug 4-11 so that works out nicely!
So Hungary -> Denmark -> Sweden -> Austria. I never did the whole Euro trip thing as a youngster so about time I got involved!
If I can convince my non-orienteering spouse to come for the non-orienteering part of the holiday, we may go to Iceland :)
He didn't really enjoy Germany in 2015 so is not sounding keen on Austria, despite or maybe because of the enticement of the Sound Of Music tour in Salzburg!
What's happening in Austria (other than MTBO and the Sound of Music)?
Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer conference which is always on the last weekend in June (2015 was held in Copenhagen, 2016 in Adelaide, and this year I'm not going to Washington DC) - and unfortunately clashes with Ice-O in Iceland!
So no Hungary MTBO World Cup for you then?
