I usually dont post but enjoy reading... However, find myself in Ulaanbataar for at least another month and am wondering if anyone has any leads on orienteering here? Ive followed an old thread from 2005 which gave some contact info but it no longer works.. I found an old PPT presentation on the IOF website c2015 that was listing Mongolia as the one member to be deregistered... I dug up past results where Mongolia places in ski-o, so there must be something going on. Any leads appreciated!

You've probably found these already.

I think I've seen a map of the area around Zaisan Monument - maybe in an old issue of O-Sport magazine.

Maybe someone out there has a stash of those magazines and can search for it.

Even without a map it is interesting to just run around in the countryside (being aware that there are lots of scary dogs).

Being aware that Spike generally considers dogs to be scary (not to say that they aren't).

Thanks for the advice! I saw the omaps... but still cant find where the start is! I tend to agree on the dogs, but also the marmots - apparently they can carry bubonic plague so i have been advised not to eat them.
