I did exactly the same thing as you on control 13! I actually did give up and head back towards 14 keeping an eye out for the control, and spotted it above me in some rocks on my way past.

That's pretty well what happened to me!

I looked at my splits tonight and wished I hadn't , felt glum. Particularly 3 which wasn't a hard leg. I must trust my compass.

Don't forget that at the Para Wirra badge event a few years ago the OA president ran off the (available) map - and he wasn't the only one...
