Tsk tsk. My faith in you as the grammar Nazi has been shattered.
Please correct me oh wise one. If I was Tooms I'd have written something like "hadn't've" and if I was most other people on earth it would have been "hadn't of".
How about just "hadn't been"? :)
I think either is acceptable. Better to be a have been than a never was.
"have been" can't be a noun...unless it's a Proper Noun to which someone changed their name by deed poll.
I didn't want it to be a noun. Does that make it better?
Also you shouldn't use "their" when referring to someone in singular form.
but, but, gender is no longer binary, so I can't use his/her!
Just do what the majority of people do and ignore all the rules on correct language use. You should see the emails I get from MTB mailing lists *shudder* It's almost as if there's some kind of correlation between mountain biking and poor use of the English language.
Just as well all current participants on this thread are already Australian citizens.
Yes otherwise I wouldn't be able to ride for the Australian team.
I wish I hadn't of started all this now. Their's no chance of going back. Ill forever be the one whom is frowned upon.
