Its probably best to describe this style of event as a middle but on a 5k map. The controls were set to be navigationally challenging (and not to be stolen). There was route choice but not to the extent you would expect in a sprint. In short, it doesn't fit any of the IOF championship criteria. Proudly non-compliant.

Non-compliant races are the best. In the UK there are different rules depending on the level the event is registered as. In my club it was pretty standard to register at the lowest level so that we could set the courses we liked, London city race started like that.
