Sweet. Way to avoid mugging.

Thx. Yes, no one was going to make the effort to mug me today. Much too hot!

Nice run. There was probably no shade for this run. Definitely a good prep for Eastern States.

Thanks!

It was brutally un-shady, indeed. Yes, I did it with the intention of reminding myself of and seeing how I feel about this kind of torture. I'm still making up my mind about ES ... before Hardrock I was firmly 'not in the cards this year'. After Hardrock I was gung-ho. But I just remembered the heat and humidity.

I'm leaning 'yes' at this point, after developing a modified pace chart that takes into account climb between aid stations (using the same algorithm that AP uses for the effort pace field) and comparing to my times (and my fried Steve Tucker's times) last year ... it turns out I was going way too fast in the day, which is reassuring. No rush! Tortoise! Enjoy the time in the mountains! Set myself up for success. Then if I have anything left at 98mi ... :)

Yes, you can sprint it in from there. Exactly my plan for a reattempt at the Grindstone. Slow and steady.

Hahah! Indeed.

If you need Grindstone pacing again, let me know! I'm going pacer / crew-less for ES, if I do it this year, but don't mind helping out. It's a nice course.
