Just go to the gym or a pool and stay off the knee for a couple of days. "Testing" it every day seems like it only gives you setbacks....

Rule: however long it takes to stop hurting, give it that much time before you push it ... from one expert at getting hurt.

I'll never win with you guys. Going to have to take the approach I take with my mom, which is to just say nothing, ever, about the true state of the world.
Don't listen to those grumpy boys and do what makes you happy:) test running or not, your knee will take 10-14 days to feel better...
Give it that much time more after pain is gone. If it takes 3 days for pain to go away, wait another 3 on top of that before you push it.
