Tash I think we've established that ricky doesn't feel pain so I suspect the answer is no for ricky but yes for every normal human

It was uncomfortable but only for the half second it took to do it. The exercises are the sore bit, especially touching the thumb to the third fingertip - can't reach the fourth yet.

My thumb was in a cast for 6 weeks - about 2 weeks too long as it took 4 months to get 80% manoevrability back and not total yet. Am planning on focussing on that in the next month as it needs intense work. I know you'll keep working on it - and also do the maintenance exercises afterwards - so very important.

I can use a mouse again, which means I can have one of my infrequent paid jobs back (except I can't fieldcheck at the moment)!
