Is it running on roads/hard surfaces which is making it worse? My ankles were chronic before going on holiday but much improved after 2 weeks of hills. I'm struggling to find trainers I can run in on tarmac which don't knacker me! Build quality of Adidas tempos have gone downhill!
Terrain is much better for achilles than flat surfaces (even paths). So get in the forest and stop grumping ;-)
Trainers - Hoka?? Several people swear by them for high levels of padding and comfort for damaged feet/ankles.
