They are the only edible mushroom that I recogize in the forest, and they will continue to be rather plentiful until the middle of October.

Nice memories of hunting for them near Karlstad with Per Nyström a few years back. We got quite a few. Per found probably 90% of them.

They're good in Deeside just now as well - a few choice spots will give kgs of them in a few minutes.

Our mushroom basket, chanterelles and some Karl johanssvamp (Boletus edulis).

Hm, the link isn't working, but I can imagine that you did well. I know of Karl Johan mushrooms, but I don't know enough about what they look like. The chanterelles really stand out in the forest and so are easy to see! And I have yet to see a spot that will give a few kilos in minutes! That would be amazing!

The trick is to find a nice bit of birch woodland that has had horses grazing in it... lots of horse poo = good for chanterelles :-)
