Don't take it personally (aka, don't feed the troll). He's just that obtuse and single-minded. (And hasn't orienteered in at least a decade, but considers himself "one of us.")
Yeah, seriously, just ignore him.
It's the statement that most Americans feel there is no class system that is just needling me! He's so much part of the problem!
We have far bigger problems than Clark...
Except that attitude is part of why we have much bigger problems.
He's just a jackass. I hate turning the other cheek, but with internet trolls, that's the best option.
I'd totally missed that! Thanks O-ing!
Oh yeah, Patrick's troll categories are fabulous.
It is *so* hard to ignore this kind of behavior. I have to almost physically restrain myself when Eddie comments on something, so I get it. But it is almost always best to just let it go. And go for a stress-reducing run. And/or maybe eat some chocolate.
I got quite annoyed some years back at a comment Clark made on my log, just totally insensitive to the matter at hand, so I just deleted it. He seemed to take that personally, and has never posted on my log again. :-)
One of my proudest internet moments was resisting responding when he suggested my sister jump out of a bus moving at highway speeds and then walk 10 miles to an orienteering event instead of taking a seat in one of the cars that was already going exactly where she needed to go.
Well, he suggested she take a bus that doesn't stop in Truckee but does drive past it and then walk to the event, which he defined as walking distance but was really quite far.
He told my Dad that his training didn't count, on my Dad's log.
tell the old wanker to fuck off
I actually did, though more politely than that. Nevertheless, he persisted ;)
see, you were too polite :-)
