why you feel jaded at events. Aren't they one of life's last remaining pleasures?

I am not sure you really want to know. I remember talking to someone who dropped out of orienteering just before I came in. He was the local mapper, did a fair bit of organising and i don't know what else. He taught our children at primary school. I asked him once why he didn't come back to the sport. He replied that with his personality, orienteering would cannibalise his life again. It seemed a strange comment at the time. Off to Dunkeld tomorrow for an overnight stay. Plan is to walk up Mt Abrupt during forecast snow down to 400 metres. Should be fun... in a perverse way.
