Great result, and good luck for the World Cup.

Interesting to see Regula Hulliger back in action - first time I've seen her name for about 15 years. First saw her at JWOC 1996 when she seemed to be an even more exciting prospect than Simone (who's a year older); she won 21E at the Swiss Long Championships by something like 6 minutes while still a junior, ran a few World Cups the next year without setting the world on fire, and then disappeared from sight (at least internationally).

Blair, this is a bit of her story if you want to translate some German:

That's a very interesting article, and gives a good insight into some of the things that often get lumped in under the generic label "burnout". Definitely worth the effort to translate (it must be said that Google Translate does something rather unfortunate with Simone's last name....).

Yeah, a sad story for someone who sounded so full of energy and talent!

Sad in some ways, but positive in the sense that she's now in a good enough position to be comfortable about talking to a newspaper about the experience (and is running well again).
