A couple extra training weeks in pitt would have been beneficial!
Thanks for the feedback Kevin. Since this was a linear course with all points mandatory in order I felt it was understood that any points obtained out of order would not count towards placing. The only place where this was allowed was if you reached TA4 after 2am in which case you were to skip 28-32.
The fact that teams decided to pick which points to go to along the way was tough to remedy from a results standpoint. I think Rogaine-style courses have brainwashed people into thinking that those with the most points wins. That's not the case with a linear course. All teams arriving at TA4 before 2am should have gone to CP23 next. I will make sure this is clear for the next time.
That was my impression from the written rules and the pre race meeting, but not from the TA staff.
Anyhoo, no worries, I don't think it affected our strategy at all given how bad I was feeling at the time.
We were ice cubes so we didn't stick around Sunday morning, but we'll be at the letchworth A meet next weekend so maybe we can properly introduce ourselves then!
Sounds good. Will be there all day racing and picking up controls.
