Unfortunately basketball doesn't have complementary sport because it just can't be complemented.

Hmm not sure to be honest, as far as I know Jay Triano's kid continues to be our only current Canadian. I usually don't start paying attention to the team until sometime in October when I get my yearly insider preview from my buddy who works in the admissions office.

I found basketball very complementary the only year I played. I only attended training which consisted of pure match play (no drills or such boring things) and since there were so few in presence I got to play a lot.
The physical effort of basically running intervals across the court for two hours without a break did wonders for my running shape later in the spring...

I have to admit that my basketball game may not have benefitted from my orienteering skills (other than basic fitness) but it sure helped the other way.
