I'm not very good at this tracker thing. One source indicates 'Bent finished today and Bash not started, but the other link shows both finished today....
I like the second one! :-)
I don't think Bash's tracker actually worked. It was one of a few that seemed to be stuck in the same place. I also found it a bit confusing to see the tracks for finishers scatter around town.
I think my tracker was either misprogrammed or attached to my pack upside down by a volunteer. (I was the first to check in.) It was flashing but the site said it hadn't tracked since August. It started tracking on our hotel balcony although I think they had stopped broadcasting locations to the map by then. Fingers crossed, it should work for Day 2!
Congrats Barb! Sleep well!
Also, the race timing page is fairly useless at the moment. It's not sorted in order of finish and it doesn't show any chip times. It just says whether we finished or not. It was almost impossible to bail out so almost everyone finished!
Looks like they've switched tracker probs today!! Richard appears to have finished but didn't log and Barb is progressing well! .. I think
Weird! We both finished, then my tracker went dark and refused to turn on again. The tracker map said my battery was at 8% and it has a micro USB connection (after I sliced through the sealed plastic bag) so we are attempting to charge it. Fingers crossed for tomorrow!
Today may have been the most physically demanding 11 hours of my life. Tomorrow is longer. The next day it's supposed to rain. I'm going to sleep well!
The altitude makes it harder. So far we haven't been below 1600 m and we've climbed to 3300 m. Doing it the day after another hard day means the legs get tired faster. Also, there's a lot of tricky footing although Day 1 was a lot trickier than Day 2. We had a glacier crossing on Day 2, which was cool.
Could someone please text me to let me know if my tracker is working on Day 3 and what the battery percentage is? If you do, please post here so others will know it's already been done. We have no way to know whether our charging was enough. The race starts at midnight Ontario time and runs till noon the next day. Thanks!
Hmm, my tracker was wonky. I finished in 8:30, probably upper-mid-pack.
As far as I can tell Barb just finished Day 3 in 11½ hours.
( Finish D3 Fri 17:25:14 )
Looks like she´s still in the Town Square of Macugnaga 25 minutes later. Can´t find Bents tracker though.
We had a lot of tracker issues past the second high pass. Barb indeed made it in 11:25, thanks Bubo. Long tough day, but went ok. GPS track on my log.
I'm moving up! I was 119th on Day 1, 109th on Day 2 and 94th on Day 3. So there's some pressure for tomorrow. ;) It helped that it was foggy so I couldn't take many photos. It got cold, rainy and slippery after 'Bent finished. Trackers were reporting everyone as "retired" for awhile - sigh.
That's nice upward movement in the rankings Bash!
Great work Barb and Richard looked like a fantastic trip and race!
Thanks, we're heading home tomorrow after eating all the food in Italy!
Poor italians, will they starve now?
Great accomplishment BTW (both the race and the eating).
If you've seen all the scenery and eaten all the food, you might as well come home :)
Congrats on great races and a great trip/experience!
Thanks - fun trip! And very delicious.
