...and this was all Bash's idea! Congratulations, can't wait to hear more when you get back!
So glad you had such a great race and such a great experience!
It all sounds great.
Glad you enjoyed the punishment.
Pics and video coming eventually. I need to sort through a ton of footage.
I was lucky enough to never have a blister or the slightest injury, and nothing is really sore today other than feeling generally tired. Glad I never slipped or wiped out- at least nothing I couldn't catch with poles before going down.
Great to hear you liked the stage racing experience, Bent! Trav and I can point you in the direction of many cool stages races to check out for future trips - such a fun community builds over the days, doesn't it? And super hard, but super fun! Congrats!!
Congrats Richard! Well done.
Well done!!!
You guys are awesome!
Thanks guys for the encouragement and thanks Trav and Baloney for all the advice.
WOW - you sound so happy about it all! Great to hear you enjoyed it all - as well as having a fantastic placing:)
Way fun to read all this Bent. Well done, my friend.
Great job Bent! Happy to hear your stomach wasn't giving you much trouble and that you enjoyed this race so much!
Really nice to see 'Bent feeling happy and hungry each day after a long mountain run. Each day he had stories about great conversations and new friends on the trail. Stage racing really suits him!
As expected, the stage format suits me less well than a non-stop format but this course was so technical and exhausting that I couldn't have done it any other way. It was great to travel this amazing route!
Well, took me a few hours to become hungry after finishing hard stages... I was sometimes a bit nauseated near the end.
Not to worry, I was eating double for you... sympathy hunger. ;-)
...Made up for it in Italy post-race. Had to explain to the waiters how we demolished so much food.
Those gluttonous North Americans!
Italy was the perfect place for a post-race pig-out. Usually, we can't handle a 2nd course after salad and pasta but this time we were totally ready for it.
I loooooove Italy trips for this reason!! The Alps are great all over (France, Switzerland,...) but I especially love sitting down to dinner in Italy after a good day :)
So great to hear this worked out for you and your stomach Bent! Stage racing is clearly the way to go!
Suffer-level down as far as sleep and stomach issues, but you still work hard and experience the whole race course. I think you and Browner would love this one!
The Director's cut movie is now on Vimeo.
It's 11 minutes long, but there is a 6 minute short version coming soon as well.
