I am sure this concept is widespread, but I hadn't heard of it before. This is a great idea! I hope to remember it when the time comes for Inara
Hehe, now I am just picturing Inara and three other babies crawling along the road at a glacial pace to their way to baby school.
What a coincidence - I read about this for the first time today in a magazine while waiting for the dentist. Sounds like a great idea, and really cool to hear that its working for you :)
It works really well. There are about 5-7 kids that all hold onto a cord and the adult walks with them to school or back home from school. They all have reflector on and the adult with a reflector vest. There must be an association for the concept "pedibus" because each adult received a cord, the reflector jacket vest and a small bag to put it in. It's really a nice idea and this way the kids from the same neighborhood get to know each other since they are not necessarily in the same class (we have 4 first and second grade combined classes at this school). The school is about 1km away, I think it's great that this is not considered "too far to walk".
In Norway they call these groups "gågrupper", in typical literal Norwegian fashion. Lukas has been fascinated by them the few times we have gotten him out of the house early enough to see them all streaming by the driveway. :-)
