No, it was definitely a grin. Like I said, I genuinely enjoyed the suffering! Thanks for the support - it was great to see so many folk out on the course.

Depends how you rationalise it I guess. For me, entering the event was what made me get around to doing it including the whole package of recceing and training. Without that, would I have bothered getting myself up to Glen Coe anytime soon? Probably not. And then there is the occasion...let's face it, you don't spend £40 to enter the Great North Run for the privialage of running along a dual carriageway near Newcastle! How else do you get to line up on a start line with Mo Farah/Kilian Jornet?
