They often look for financial officers etc.
That is so demoralising and stupid and ridiculous and every other word I won't write but you've thought of!
I'm trying to get out of finance.
Funnily enough this isn't the first time I've had a police job disappear at or around the time of testing. My first time through WAPOL I did the fitness test to get home that day and find a letter stating that I'd failed the psych test. Earlier this year I applied for the AFP PSO role, signed up for fitness testing and it got scrapped a couple of days later and the position again disappeared.
I'm hoping it's just the PSO role that's gone. I had three preferences (PSO was #1) but I also applied for ACT policing and some other federal position but wanted the PSO role because I wouldn't have been confined to Canberra. I don't know why they keep advertising for PSOs then scrap them before testing even begins. Will see what comes of the rest of it.
The annoying thing is the amount of money I paid for the medical, only to find out that some of the other people at today's session got theirs bulk billed. I go to a bulk billing practice but they don't bulk bill medicals so I just assumed that was standard. Perhaps I should charge the AFP - I did wait until yesterday to get the medical because I thought there was a chance of them cancelling it after the last time but I didn't realise they'd cancel the process during the session.
