Discussion: Hiking Etna

From the relative ease of my armchair, the summit of Etna looks quite formidable! Bocca Nuova, one of five craters, is still smoking! And a long way off, horizontally and vertically from the end of the road from Bronte. Are any of the Norwegians you've been hanging with interested in hiking up there? Bagging Etna would definitely give you bragging rights back in New England!

I definitely have the bragging rights over here ;-); did it some years back.

Somehow I'm not surprised. I didn't have time for a full assault. Climbed up a bit, but there was plenty more available. Clark, the bus ride from Bronte to where we started hiking was about an hour and twenty minutes. We didn't get there until 3:15, and the deal was that the bus was leaving at 4:30.
