Terrible but awesome in that way endurance racing can be. Congrats on your finish!

Definitely. And while I did myself no favors with such limited training going into what i knew was a super tough event, I'm glad to at least have made progress on the mental toughness front. 50 miles of similar wind at Dirty Kanza was enough to make me drop, this time it only made me cry. ;-)

Ha, your report was enticing enough to make me google the race and think about adding it to the calendar next year :)

Nice work pushing through in those tough conditions.

You totally should, Abby! It’s definitely challenging, and the RS is a super cool, totally badass woman.

I'll admit I didn't read your DK report, but the quote about quitting is just about the best thing I've read all year. So glad you reposted it!

OMG - loved your blog post! Especially the part about how do you look at Sarah and say "It was hard, so I quit". A bunch of times during the race I thought about how much she endured to finish RAAM and knew a few more hours of discomfort to finish Spotted Horse was mandatory.

Great job out there!!

Inspiring report, Kate! I have definitely had escapist thoughts of self-harm during some of my ultras...
