What's Westbrook Rd. like? I've never been up it. Looks kind of steep at the bottom.

It's fine. Paved, get the climb done at the beginning, then through a bit of open land, then forest along a little stream, then pops out on the Whately-Haydenville Road.

Steep? Think I was in 4th gear (ie. had three lower) and no problem with that. Maybe 8-10% at the most, and just a short bit of that. I think you could make it. :-)

For variety, you can also go straight across the W-H road and take the higher road a bit before dropping sharply down to Whately. Gives a bit more climb.

I discovered that Bing maps shows unpaved roads differently than paved roads (if you zoom in). It's useful (especially for me, with my thinner tires) when planning routes. But I also noticed that it isn't 100% accurate.

Hadn't seen that before. Sure isn't 100% accurate. In places it gets it exactly right, but in other places very wrong. Wouldn't care to rely on it.
