I've slowly but surely started back in on the book. What is so ironic is how much I've forgotten about my own story twists and turns and names of characters...even entirely forgotten some characters.
I wanted to keep going where I left off in about January of this year but as I think of new plots I have to check back on details to 'coordinate' past and present and the more I did the more forgotten details I came across. I picked a 'drop back' spot in the story and thought I would work my way from it to the new part of the story, but all that did was cause me to have to go back to coordinate the changes to the 'new old' and the new part of the story...and I found myself wanting to change other areas as I researched the story...so I finally decided the best thing to do was go to page 1.
Go ahead and write new story and anticipate I'll have to fix some inconsistencies with it, but start at the beginning. I did that once and made about 25 pages. I was kinda afraid of changing the 'sacred' early pages but I started today and am pleased.
I'm sure I'm still writing in a simplistic, awkward, grammatically incorrect style but hopefully it is better...especially as I go through the first half or so of the story.
I'm thinking I can finish this up in about 60 years...so I'm obligated to live to be 120 years old now...which I've always considered baring an accident or health issue (now I realize that is exactly what life is about...and death but that's for a philosopher to figure out) that I would live to be 120 years old.
Hopefully in the next 20 years there will be legal health supplementals that work magic on your body and make those last 40 years as if I were in my 30's or 40's or 50's at least (early 50's...since about 56 my body has deteriorated more than I anticipated).
I have about 8800 pages between the main manuscript of 6880 pages and about 2000 pages since I started a second manuscript. It's really not book one versus book two. The main manuscript needs to be at least 3-5 books...maybe more...also I'm going to add chapters but I want to keep the chapters going...meaning book 2 will continue the chapter numbers where book 1 ends...so if there are 40 chapters in book 1 then book 2 will start at chapter 41. This is my way of saying it's one big story and the books are for convenience only.
Holy... I have write 1000 words for a column every two weeks and that is overwhelming sometimes. I hope to someday be able to put in blocks of time at the "typewriter."
I really have not put those blocks in yet...I used to get up as early as 4:45 after reading stuff and drinking coffee would be started by 6 and get in nearly 2 hours...that was 2013 late all of 2014, 2015, then Jan I kinda shut it down.
I probably would have as much difficulty writing a column like you describe versus fantasy world writing.
