1.) 2 + 2 = 5: It's got it all. Schizo-manic rock out. (That was a great Glastonbury clip of it above.)
1a.) Everything In Its Right Place: Soothing start to a bit of a pivot sound-wise for them. Reminds me of uni at Queens.
3/3a.) 15 Step/Airbag: Toss up here - which is exactly how I feel about those 2 albums. Which one is their best??
'In Rainbows' is my go to for bedtime with the kids.
'Reckoner' and 'House Of Cards' are their best songs - without a doubt for me. Stunner of a back to back. Some days it's the only thing I need to make my day great.
'Ok Computer' is less accessible. A lot of angst, (even a little sad) - which was much needed as a teen and in my 20's, but now I'm over it. 'Let Down' is in my top 5 best songs for them though.
Special sound for that era - I understand why critics call it their best.
Oh ya, and for the openers...
Honourable mention:
Burn The Witch - a valid addition. Textbook sound - rest of the album is meh.
This has been the first in a new series called:
HOT TAKES WITH HANS!
or
HANS' HOT TAKES!
(I like the first myself. Also the song Anyone Can Play Guitar)
my fave 1997 oringen moment was watching Klepperton run around the results area in the beer-O race taking over the lead for team british commonwealth and deliberately running face first through what he thought was a paper sign banner - it was actually a wooden sign.
