Cheap eh!!! 'excellent condition' ha - squeak something awful at main rollers by flywheel, flywheel look rusty,, difficult to move even w resistance set at lowest setting and make a sound like air being squeezed out w every step ! Maybe I should have gone for the $100 one after all.
Think I have to return it.
Why not try a wad of steel wool on that flywheel? Obviously that thing hasn't been used in years. So you will probably have to do something to overcome the deferred maintenance. Also, try oiling that flywheel bearing.
How is the friction unit for the arm pulls? Can you adjust the tension satisfactorily? I just sent you the 'Use and Care Guide' for the Nordic Trak. You should be able to rehab that thing in an hour and start working out this morning! Good luck.
Thanks:) I put some oil on the non-flywheel roller hubs and tightened some bolts and that seemed to help a lot w squeaking. And just getting used to the required motion will help a lot.
Still, the ski tension can only be on a low setting or it slides free the first half of the stroke and only catches for the last part - weird, and the main vertical post up front rocks back and forth a bit, a worn rivet I think...
Well it sounds like you've a build-up on the drag strap...no grip! On p.12 of that guide they suggest taking off that drag strap and reversing it. And before reattaching it, cleaning off any glaze or residue with rubbing alcohol.
