The one I ran in Sydney they had a maze on the course just for the event! It was made from that same orange stuff they use to surround earthworks (there were a couple of these on course yesterday, one of them being on your way out of Start 2). I couldn't imagine first drawing the maze on the map in detail and then recreating it on the ground.
If anyone can think of another suitable venue I'd be happy to draw it. Given the small size it wasn't too onerous (ha, says he now that it's done). The hard bit is guessing what's under the trees from the aerial photo but since Progress Way went through the map, StreetView helped me out considerably before I had to do a field check.
Hm - I'll keep an eye out - might see something on the FROGs' rides - Claisebrook or Burswood perhaps :-)
Actually Bardon Park near Claisebrook was used previously by Simmo for one of his OrientShow events.
New playgrounds around the $1bn Stadium would be good
They'd probably charge us a billion dollars to use it.
I've been eyeing that area off for sprint, Richard. Just waiting for them to finish building the damn thing.
Is there an orienteer who doesn't ride around Perth looking at parks saying "that might make a nice sprint map..."?
I don't understand the question.
What else are parks made for?
Well I meant outside of orienteering.
I'm sure you always clean up after your hound :)
The imminent plastic shopping bag ban is actually going to be massively inconvenient for Dane owners. The usual yellow poop bags just aren't big enough.
Might have to switch to black bin bags :-)
