Easy to argue that you would be a worse parent if you didn't take care of yourself. You need exercise, and there's nothing wrong with kids watching some videos, especially if that enables mama to get something done. You're winning at parenting. :-)
It is easy to say that I would be a worse parent if I didn't take care of myself, but the thing is to do that I either need a babysitter or exercise when I am supposed to be working. Switzerland doesn't have the same mind-set on raising children as many other places; there isn't daycare everyday for kids, or even a daycare at the gym. I am trying to find a place where Lena could go play with other kids for 2 hours on Monday morning and I cannot find one. We spend my salary on the two days a week she goes to daycare... and there is only so much you can ask from your grandparents (which I do;-)).... so I do question what the best approach is. Other mothers are not going to the gym with their kids here.
After spending some time raking leaves, I decided that the sun is shining and I'm not a bad mom for bringing her to Pilates. Good how some fresh air will clear your head;-)
I also don't think you are a bad mom! You found a good way to take of yourself while keeping Lena safe and entertained. Good work!!

Maybe they should! That way the kids could play with each other and not give their moms a bad conscience.
Seriously, you could start a trend!
:-) totally! I will work on it!
I guess the best is to find neighbours with kids the similar age to help each other out. If that exists... That is what we usually do (fortunately the Flower Power Gym in Aarau also offers child care; only outside of rush hours, but M's 80% allows him to take the kids with on Monday morning offering me some child-free time).
If all these options do not exist: go for the movies or games on the tablet :-)
I go to MummyFit - the kids are all in the middle of the room with mats, toys baby walkers etc and we do circuit training around the outside, including some hardcore weights. It’s fab!
I wish it had existed two years ago when Mattie was ali’s age. That time I just took him to the park and put him on a mat on the grass whilst I did circuits!
You do what you need to do to keep you sane , that’s what makes a good Mum :-D
