I uss. do strength on the same day after a speed workout, the running kind of primes the pump for strength and flex, then the next day ends up being very easy and gives me an opportunity to run in some of the msucular adjustments. I've heard that this pattern is fairly common w runners. Some people will do easier strength/flex like yoga and climbing on days following hard workouts.

I definitely try to alternate with yoga -- there's a Mon-Tue-Thur instructor I really like at the local rec center.
In order to do speed & strength on the same day I would need to get more disciplined with my sleep schedule and how much time I waste during the day -- a perpetual battle for me. ;-)
