Looks like we're back to a 'non-novelty' type event this year with the rebanning of GPSes! How do they think a GPS is going to help on a street event?
I think its a standard template that the setters dont actually read/modify. Generally the setters of novelty are novice setters having fun with a family so cant blame them for rolling over paperwork.
Ill be having my GPS on :P
** having now downloaded and read it - they have modified pretty much every one of the standard paragraphs so no idea why they left it in.
Actually Gerard and Sue are the vetters and have stacks of experience having been around for many years (and were in charge of the "B" form for over a decade) but they are sticklers for rules. If we get DQed for having one well no big deal since we're only going out for three hours anyway.
FWIW if they DQ you, they should do the same for everyone carrying a smartphone.
already had this thought given there is unlikely to be any teams without one.
that that case this could get interesting then :)
I don't have a smartphone although I think Evo does. Ironically my GPS would be less helpful for navigation in an urban environment than a smartphone.
Yes, they have banned GPS devices from the event as illegal navigation aids but not smartphones, well not specifically anyway.
Oh well that is ok then. Mine is a watch, I won't use it as a GPS... Just like a phone is a communication device and not a portable map.
Exactly, my Forerunner tells me what time we need to be back for the sausage sizzle. This may be a lot earlier than expected now that the forecast has changed from 30 a couple of days ago to now being 36.
