That's called attempted murder but then the motorist has a different view "But your honour, I just wanted to scare him and he was on my road..."

So glad you have video footage of it and hopefully the driver receives jail time (if he or she can be identified). Did you take the can for fingerprints?

police collect thed can from the scene. Apparently there is footage of another incident involving same car.

Bloody frightening to think the intent involved in that act.

Yeah it is frightening to think what is going through the person's head. Either they've deliberately gone out to cause you injury or else are too stupid to realise just how much damage being hit by a car (and other items) can do. Either scenario makes for a scary time on the road with these sorts of people out there.

Even when I collected my uniform on Wednesday the guy doing my sizes said to me "Taking your life into your hands cycling aren't you". I felt like saying more people are killed in car-on-car crashes than car-versus-cyclist but we have a greater chance of injury with no protection at all in those cases.

I hope the police can track the guys down and press charges. They deserve the full force of the law. Would be good for them to be forced to cycle everywhere, but I guess there is no justice. Just glad that you weren't worse off.

Glad you're ok Dalto, that's rather fucked up.

The Fly12 just paid for itself though - such a shame when people do stupid shit like this with their ID on full display.

Unless the owner of the registered car names the driver and the driver names the passenger the police have little to go by with charges. They hope to get fingerprints off the can but again a good defence lawyer could argue them off with that apart from the matching tattoo on the passengers arm.

We will see how this progresses. There is footage of a black pajero creating havic 2 hrs later in Atwell....

There may be CCTV of the vehicle and driver at an intersection nearby that can show the driver.

I would think a visit from the police and an invitation to come down to the station for a chat might put the wind up the driver / owner - but then if he / she is that much of a D...head then maybe they will not respond as a normal person would!

My personal story is that I got knocked off my bike in the 1980s by a trailer that deliberately swung in as the towing car went past me. Quite a few stitches and general trauma. The driver nearly did a runner but did come back and abuse me as I sat by the road with a face full of blood! He was charged with dangerous driving or similar but only got a slap on the wrist, I got a few dollars from the insurance claim . And the magistrate said I was partly to fault because I told the driver to wait, he was hitting the horn, while I overtook Anthea who I was riding with at the time!

Surely the driver would also be charged in this instance for sideswiping you. Also my experience from several years ago getting assaulted with pepper spray by a passenger in another vehicle was that the owner/driver could either name the passenger or else face court himself. The driver did fess up and then in court the assaulter decided it'd be a good idea to abuse us in court!

Yes but i need to prove who was the driver or have the owner cough up a name. If owner doesn't they face a fine of failure to assist police......

Hopefully they can get him, this is the reason I ride with camera too, since my accident back in 2016, happy you are safe Dalto..

Man that sucks, a little too close to home makes it feel very real.
Its not like its a narrow backwater road either - thats a fairly major bit of road surface.

Tash has two in her car that she can use - one is worthless and ideal for the job.

I also have heaps of rubbish, a spanner and some bubble wands* in my car that I could use.

*the second best weapon

The ultimate weapon would always be a nice cast iron (with copper bottom) frying pan. But they are a bit expensive to throw around - despite their perfect weight for it.

*Update*
several charges outstanding from the saturday drive. Unfortunately at this point in time the police cant locate the car or the owner as the owner has moved address and hasn't updated their details. Police have CCTV footage from a petrol station of the vehicle and driver. Can only presume they committed an offence there! There is a seizure notice issued for the vehicle and they said there are 2 charges outstanding in regards to my assault. The wheels are turning and are turning as fast as mine this week :-(

They'll get caught eventually. These guys have to get around and the cops will catch them when they do. So sorry things are going slow but have Faith!
