It's been on my list of possible assents: never been up it. But time constraints have kept me more local.

Here's the list of "official" Franklin County peaks. Maessaemett comes in 10th out of 42 but with the 4th highest prominence after Dry Hill, Mt Toby, and Mt Grace.

This was the first time I'd been up from the east side, obviously the easiest way and the only way on a bike. I've been up from the west, parking on route 2 just above Shelburne Falls, maybe 3 or 4 times. Never could run the whole thing, but a tough workout even at a brisk walk. One of those that tests both your fitness and your character.

So between the two of you, you've now spelled it at least three different ways.

JJ, you must not understand one of the things good friends are for. In this case, Phil noticed that I had spelled it correctly and then incorrectly in the same post. Not wanting me to feel bad, he graciously spelled it correctly and then incorrectly in the same comment.

What a gentleman!
