I grew up in the suburbs of DC and oddly enough my son has now settled there (in the city proper). I learned to drive going around those damnable circles, but back then the traffic was probably a lot less intense. The city is quite a special place, even with the current unfortunate administration.
The mall is amazing and all the museums are free. Wonderful. Seemed like I was seeing it for the first time. Not sure why that was. December bareness might have had a bit to do with it - also the passage of time. We'd stopped by briefly at Cherry Blossom time in association with O meets but then hurried along.
