But being allowed to join, but not to take part in training where children are present, nor to run on mixed-age relay teams, would seem like an acceptable compromise. If you integrate weirdos they tend to get less weird (or at least get weirder more slowly). Since there is typically interaction with kids and rather open changing facilities in clubs, there is a case to be made for not accepting the person. But if it is only at public events, club membership or not won't make a difference.
