I got a pair in the middle of the year. Really light and comfortable. The construction means they are quite firm when you land, not as "soft" as a kyano or similar, so a long run would be tough. That said I find them good for shorter runs and "speed" work.
Yeah the philosophy behind them seems pretty sound. I might give them a go! Tried the new version of my current shoe (Saucony Triumph) and wasn't a huge fan so maybe something different would be good.
