Mike, that's quite notable. I really didn't know that they were abundant in that area. Happy New Year!

The count circle is a 7.5 mile radius which goes almost to Brookville. We saw 3 (1 adult and 2 inmature) near Metamora (there's a new nest on the west fork of the Whitewater visible north of the US 52 bridge.) We saw 3 others from Levee Rd on the S side of the river near Yellow Bank. There's a nest there too which is visible across the river from Levee Rd.

The first year we did the count we had one. That's about ten years ago. Numbers have increasd almost every year. The count had 15 last year. Our 8 contributed to a count total of at least 12 for this year (12 at the 1 pm tally, but several people went out later to cover additional area - haven't seen final totals yet)

Given the extreme cold and smaller than usual number of counters, we hassle a pretty good year.

May go out and take a look. Am in that area about once a week.
