I wish you and the whole family all the best in 2018!!

Do you have to pay for Barney on the plane? Does he go in a cage in the baggage hold or with you?

Happy New Year to you too! I love getting text messages from you guys, but unfortunately my stupid american phone won't send messages back. :(

Barney generally costs us $125 per ticket. He goes in his little pet carrier and sits under the seat in front of me. He is generally an excellent flyer, but had one bad flight on the way out to Montana, where he had to poop really badly the whole flight, but didn't want to go in his carrier, so he cried for like two hours and then pooped three times in the Denver airport as soon as we landed. :( (TMI, I know).

When you have kids, talking about poop seems so normal. I didn't even flinch.
Interesting that he can be in the airplane with you, but I guess you're not allowed to take him out of his cage. I have never seen a dog in the plane before.

True, a lot of our time is spent talking about poop, both baby and dog.

At least in the US, flying with pets is becoming a lot more common. Many airports now have pet relief areas, where the dogs can try to pee and poop between flights. (In reality, this takes the form of owners crowding around the tiny indoor pet relief area, trying to convince their dogs to pee indoors after training them for years to avoid doing exactly that...)
