Same. I mean the pace we set wasn't slow and I had a big training week but it still felt easy with no stomach issues then BANG once I had the gel. I do mostly eat a clean, unprocessed plant-based diet so perhaps my stomach has grown super sensitive to what is now 'foreign' foods.
The other night family cooked up a veg risotto and I didn't realise they used cow's milk until after. Haven't (knowingly) had it for 2 years and felt like death afterwards. Maybe a similar situation?

The marathon I did in Andorra had Salami at their aid stations. It was delicious.
Thanks Bart! I think I'll avoid using gels though and return to dates as main running fuel, they work really well.
