This is similar to the situation in Sweden. The orienteering demographic is mostly from "white, privileged families". Not much influx from the "new Swedes"/immigrants even if they´ve been born in Sweden.
There have been a few similar projects trying to reach other groups but I don´t really know how successful they´ve been. It´s very much a struggle to break cultural barriers since orienteering or even going out in the forest is unheard of in most of the World.
